A day with LIVIN and Lululemon

2 Minutes Read | Posted in LIVIN | Posted during November 21, 2019

There has always been a strong connection between physical and mental health which is why activations that incorporate both are so positive and powerful in their impact.

Earlier this month the LIVIN Organisation was invited to be a part of Lululemon Brisbane‘s community event, LIVIN ‘It Ain’t Weak to Speak’, A conversation around Men’s Mental Health’ in which they hosted a free workshop inviting men from around Brisbane to come along for an afternoon of activation and conversation.

According to statistics released from the Black Dog Institute, in 2011 men accounted for over three quarters (76%) of deaths from suicide with an estimated 72% of males not seeking help for mental disorders.

The free community event and workshop hosted at the W Brisbane by the amazing team at Lululemon Brisbane, was specifically targeting men and those who may not typically reach out or engage in conversations on mental health.

To help break the ice, the day included at HIIT Class, the delivery of one of our LIVINWell Programs and finishing off with a panel discussion to open and encourage conversation on mental health.

LIVIN Co-Founder Casey Lyons attended the event with some of the LIVIN team and was inspired by what he saw. “The event Lululemon hosted for the charity, was a fantastic initiative which encompassed many of LIVIN’s core philosophies – community, physical activity and conversations surrounding mental health and mental illness.”

The event was attended by over 50 participants which was a testament to the importance of mental health conversation in the fitness arena. “The connection between physical and mental health is well documented and it’s a credit to Zac and the Lululemon team from Brisbane for facilitating an inspiring, empowering and motivating day and we can’t thank the team enough and to all those that showed up to participate.” Said Casey.

We have no doubt that the day started many conversations long after the event finished and encourage everyone to get involved in great community initiatives such as this one, whenever they come up on the calendar.  You just never know what you’ll learn and what will help yourself or others.
