Melbourne Fashion Week LIVIN style! Launching Tuesday 16th November LIVIN in Melbourne.

As part of 2021 Melbourne Fashion Week LIVIN invited 3 Melbourne designers to create a limited edition LIVIN T-Shirt that expressed how they felt “LIVIN” in the longest lockdown city in the world.

LIVIN thanks the designers for the time and thought they have contributed to their designs.

In another big announcement LIVIN now has a “pop up” store in Melbourne’s CBD where we will be selling our apparel and running LIVINWELL workshops. In continuing to go to areas that need us, Melbourne is making its way back and LIVIN will be on site to deliver our LIVINWELL programs in Victoria.

Element Empathy SPEAK UP

It’s no secret that it’s been a tough last two years. Living in such uncertain times it’s easy to get lost amongst the noise of the world. For most,Covid has been a real breaking point, the last straw to say the least. Element Empathy’s main mission is to inspire people through art and fashion, to really believe in themselves again and a kind reminder that “it’s cool to be empathetic!” Not only towards each-other, the world, but also towards ourselves. “No matter how many times you fall, remember that you’re never alone!” Everyone is fighting their own battles, but the universal rule of thumb here will always stay the same. “The issue will never define you, it’s how you bounce back from it, that will..” Reminding people that they are never alone & trying to break the stigma around mental health in a fun – loving way is how we aim to give back to our community.

Isabel Mitchell – SUNSHINE

I’ve had the personal misfortune of seeing first hand the devastation these lockdowns have had on our mental health. At the start of the lockdowns one of my friends suicided and it changed my world in an instant. 

I remember laying in my bedroom, my whole body aching, feeling an overwhelming sensation of fear, anger, guilt and pain. Millions of questions flooding my mind and knowing that I would never get an answer to a single one.

The next day I woke up to a beautiful sunrise. I decided to take a walk, barely able to put one foot in front of the other, but once the sun hit my skin I managed to find a little bit of energy to push on and keep going. As I walked I couldn’t help but think. “If you could have waited just one more day, you could have experienced this, this sunshine, this feeling of warmth against your skin. Today would have been a better day.”

Fast forward a year later, when I’m tired, rundown, overworked and feeling low I find it’s the moments in the sun that I appreciate most. 

Which brings me to the theme of my design. Sunshine.

Because there will always be another day, another sunrise and another chance to live a better day. 

 Ms Pam -“It’s OK to Spill the Beans,”

As a business that was created in response to the impact of the 2020 Melbourne lockdown, Ms. Pam became an encouraging endeavour for us to focus our energy on whilst also finding a sense of freedom in an otherwise restrictive world. Throughout Ms. Pam’s journey, we have been thankful for the space we have created that allows us to spill our own beans with each other – especially when the going gets tough. We are proud to share this safe space with our community.

Our “Spill The Beans” design is centred around the importance of people feeling comfortable to open up to their loved ones about any mental health struggles they may be having. The design weaves humour and a common everyday phrase together, to represent the overall message. The tee will act as a conversation starter for many Aussies and help break the ice for a potentially life-changing conversation.
