My guest on the show today is Justin Davis. Justin talks about his past relationships and why his fear of intimacy and vulnerability caused him to self sabotage and repeat the same mistakes over and over again. We go deep into Justin’s abandonment issues from his father and mother, how this played out in his relationships and how he came to an understanding that he had the power to break the cycle.

On his podcast, Who Can Relate, Justin is raw and authentic about his life, relationships and the things he is learning about adversity, vulnerability and self love.

This is such a raw and honest conversation about Justin’s journey, what he has learned about himself, the power of vulnerability and being accountable for where your life is at. Justin has turned his life around and has so much wisdom to share. This is a must listen for every man, and woman, out there.

TOPICS WE COVER AND WHERE TO FIND THEM:

[0:45]: Justin’s modelling career, how travelling the world has taught him so much but it has been lonely.

[5:00]: Justin talks about his transition from full time modelling into doing something more fulfilling and how he felt like he had a bigger purpose.

[6:30]: How at the age of 30, something clicked and Justin started thinking about his legacy, digging deep to find the source of his toxic relationships. He wanted to be the type of man he would want his daughter to marry.

[9:30]: Justin talks about reading the book “You’re a Bass Ass” and how this inspired him to take control of the “what” and the “why” in his life.

[11:00]: How Justin discovered his purpose in life is to help people but he has to help himself first.

[12:00]: Justin shares about how he wasn’t able to be vulnerable in relationships because he was afraid of getting hurt due to abandonment issues from his father and mother

[15:00]: You repeat what you don’t repair. Justin talks about how he was always in control of the exit door and would self sabotage before he had the chance to get hurt

[17:00]: Justin’s past girlfriends would always say they didn’t feel good enough for him. He discovered that he was trying to get them to fill a void that only he could fill.

[19:15]: The moment Justin apologised to his wife when he realised what was going on, how he was then able to be vulnerable and transparent and help other men do the same.

[21:45]: Understand that you have the power to break any lineage curse that was bestowed upon you

[25:00]: Justin talks about how he needed to reevaluate his relationship with the word relationship and put both feet in and think long term. It’s not about the love story, but about the life story.

[27:30]: There’s no better feeling than being on the other side of vulnerability and transparency.

[31:00]: We all have painful experiences that shape how we approach life and relationships. Everything is a lesson, especially the pain.

[33:00]: Holding anger and resentment takes so much energy. Justin talks about how he let go of his anger towards his parents because they did the best they knew at the time.

[34:30]: The power of changing perspective. Justin shares how he chose to learn from his parents’ mistakes and not make them with his own daughter.

[36:40]: Where to find Justin and don’t be afraid to reach out to him.
