TAKE TIME — for Mental Health

3 Minutes Read | Posted in LIVIN | Posted during September 17, 2021

Mental Health Week is celebrated each year in October around World Mental Health Day on October 10. Closer to home, Queensland Mental Health Week falls between October 9th and 17th, which is when LIVIN is getting active – all guns blazing – to shine a spotlight on mental health and well-being via our first-ever Giving Day – Givin 4 LIVIN (more about this shortly).

The theme for Queensland Mental Health Week in 2021 is Take time — for mental health. The theme recognises the importance of taking time to engage in activities that boost our mental health and encourages help-seeking behaviours, when needed. This theme is very close to our LIVIN heart because, fittingly, the mental health program that we deliver all around the country to schools, workplaces, sporting clubs and local communities – LIVINWell – is designed to teach people how to Take Time to look after themselves and others, and to encourage people to speak up and seek help. How’s that for alignment?! Serendipitous some might say.

Launch Event:

It kicks off at the Robina Town Centre on Saturday, October 9th, on the eve of World Mental Health Day, with an action-packed event comprising of epic entertainment including on-stage performers, half-pipe skaters, a rock-climbing wall and more! All public donations given are to be collected as part of our main event, the Givin 4 LIVIN Day, on Thursday, October 14th. We are truly blessed on the Gold Coast that, in this current COVID climate, an event like this can still take place. We encourage all Queenslanders to Take Time to embrace this opportunity and flock to the event in droves.

Givin 4 LIVIN Day:

The main event, LIVIN’s Giving Day campaign, Givin 4 LIVIN, is an exciting 12-hour only event where we aim to raise as many funds as possible to enable us to deliver 500 (yes! Five hundred!) LIVINWell mental health programs across the country throughout the financial year. A large portion of these programs will be delivered to students in schools who need them the most. Sadly, young Australians are struggling now more than ever!

Givin 4 LIVIN provides all people with the perfect opportunity to help us to have more life-changing, potentially life-saving conversations, and it’s super easy. On LIVIN’s Giving Day – Thursday, October 14th – simply Take Time to donate.

Alternatively, if you’re a business we invite you to join us as a matched donor by pledging a donation prior to October 14th. By joining us as a matched donor, you will receive a range of advertising benefits and, more importantly, your generosity will grow our syndicate of matching gifts. This will inspire our community to give more generously during our main event as every single donation will go twice as far, literally.

Here are examples of how your matched gift can make a difference…

$20 transforms to $40 – to provide 2 conversations with a school-aged child about mental health

$100 transforms to $200 – provide 10 conversations with a school-aged child about mental health

$200 transforms to $400 – to provide 20 conversations with a school-aged child about mental health.

$1000 transforms to $2,000 – to provide conversations to a whole school about mental health.

Thank you for Taking the Time to learn more about Mental Health Week and our awesome initiative to help shine a spotlight on mental health and well-being.
